Jon Aamodt, P.E.

Jon is a founding partner at Northland Consulting Engineers, leading a team that designs structural systems for all types of construction. He has experience in building design, industrial facilities, expansions, restoring old buildings, historic preservation, and conducting feasibility studies and condition assessments. Jon and his team focus on delivering accurate engineering documents and completing projects on time and within budget.
Jon’s experience ensures clients get efficient, cost-effective solutions. He is registered with the National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying, which allows for prompt licensure to practice in most states in the United States. Currently, he is licensed to practice engineering in the following states:

Mark Udd, P.E.

Mark has over 25 years of experience in structural engineering and joined Northland Consulting Engineers in 1997. He specializes in structural design and forensic engineering for architects and property owners. His work includes new building design, industrial facilities, building expansions, feasibility studies, condition assessments, and forensic engineering.
Mark is involved in several community and professional organizations, including the American Society of Civil Engineers. He is a licensed professional engineer in the following states:

Tom Rines, P.E., S.E.

With over 30 years of structural engineering experience and a background in carpentry, Tom has designed a variety of structures across the country. He started his career on the West Coast and joined Northland Consulting Engineers in Duluth in 2009. Tom is known for his creative, practical approach to design and his ability to spark thoughtful discussions that lead to innovative solutions.
Tom is a member of Engineers Without Borders and the American Institute of Steel Construction (AISC). He is also a licensed professional engineer in several states, including:

David Bolf, P.E.
Principal – Civil Engineer

David leads NCE’s civil team and has over 30 years of experience working with developers, architects, municipalities, and the public. His project management experience includes highway design, site planning, utility design, permit preparation, and stormwater management for local, state, and federal projects.
David has led many commercial and institutional site development projects in Minnesota and Wisconsin, handling all phases from preliminary design to construction. He is a member of the Duluth Chapter of ASCE and a licensed professional engineer in the following states:

Adam Zwak, P.E.
Partner – Civil Engineer

With over 12 years of civil engineering experience, Adam specializes in municipal roads, utility design, grading, and stormwater planning. He manages projects from design through construction and has designed stormwater systems using software like HydroCAD and WinSLAMM, including ponds, basins, trenches, and underground storage.
Adam also has experience with permit preparation, GIS software, and construction inspection. He has worked on State and Federal Aid projects and is a licensed engineer in the following states:

- Wisconsin

Riley Geissler, P.E., S.E.

Riley has been with the firm since 2010 after graduating from Michigan Tech with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering.
Riley has provided engineering services for a variety of construction projects, including structural design of industrial and manufacturing facilities, schools, hospitals, clinics, ice arenas, wellness centers, banks, custom homes, wood curtain walls, and others. He is an active member of the American Society of Civil Engineers and a registered professional engineer in the following states:
